Good to see everybody today.
Alright.
Okay.

We stopped last week in the book of Genesis.
And sure, missed out last week seeing everybody.
We had some time we were blessed, so we still had We still had church.
So last week in the book of Genesis and chapter 1 and verse 3 is where we stopped last week.
But in order for us to stay in context And help refresh our minds and help those that were out.
We're going to start reading in verse 1, and we're going to read up to verse 3 and we're going to pick up where we left off last week, God willing.
So Genesis chapter 1, verse 1 through 3.
In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light And there was light.
Let's pray.

Okay, last week we saw that God speaks.
Our verse here says In verse 3, and God said, when God speaks, things happen.
What does our verse here say happen?
And there was light.
Right?
He says, and God said, let there be light.
And there was light.
Last week we read how Jesus raised Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha from the dead.
In the book of John, chapter 11, we read several verses.
And if you would like to go back and read about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, you can read about that in chapter 11.
In the book of John.
I'm going to just read John chapter 11 and verses 43 and 44 in order that we can get to verse 4 in Genesis today.
God will.
John 11, 43 through 44.
This is Jesus speaking now.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus.
Come forth.
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was bound about with a napkin.
Jesus saith unto them, lose him and let him go.
God spoke through Jesus.
Jesus is God.
When they speak, things happen.
When God speaks, folks, things get done.
God is all powerful and in control.
And I tell myself that a lot here, let me God is in control.
God is in control.
No matter what I'm going through, I have gotten the habit.
God is in control.
This is part of God's will.
God is in control.
When Jesus commanded that the napkin be removed from Lazarus' face, they removed that napkin from Lazarus' face.
And I believe the first thing he saw was the light.
I believe the first thing Lazarus saw when they removed that napkin from his face was the light.
Ephesians 5.
14.
I love this.
Wherefore he saith Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
That's wonderful What Jesus did for Lazarus, he will do for you if you will only believe in him.
Psalms 36, 9.
For with thee is the fountain of life.
In thy light shall we see light.
Why?
The first part of verse 4 in Genesis chapter 1 says, And God saw the light that it was good.
Only by the goodness of God can you see the light of God.
Now you may see the sunlight shining during the day.
And you may turn on the lights at night in order to see in the dark.
These are the lights of this world that God created, that everyone gives.
The second part of Matthew changeth his son to rise on the evil and on the good.
And sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
The people of this world get to invade for this world.
But it's only by faith that you get to enjoy the light God created for this world in order to live in the new world to come.
Jesus said in John 8, 12, I am the light of the world.
He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of me.
Without the light.
Proverbs 4. 18 says, but the path of the just is as the shining light.
That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
The way of the wicked is as darkness They know not at what they stumble.
Ecclesiastes two fourteen The wise man's eyes are in his head, but the fool walketh in darkness.
And I myself perceive also that one event happeneth to them all.
What do you think that one event is that King Solomon is referring to here when he says through the inspiration of God One event happens to both the wise man and the fool.
What do the wise man and the fool have in common?
They both shed this flesh, which returns back to the dust from which it came.
Ecclesiastes 3.
20.
All go unto one place.
All are of the dust and all turn to dust again Ecclesiastes 12, 7.
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
I say this a lot, folks, and I'm going to say it again.
You are a spirit.
You have a body.
Once this body lays down and goes back to the dust, your spirit will live for eternity.
Where you choose.
Notice what I said.
Where you choose to have your spirit live for eternity is your choice.
God blesses us with the ability to choose where we want to spend eternity.
And I'm so grateful that he does.
What a boring life this would be if we couldn't make decisions and choices, folks.
Now, when your spirit returns to God who gave it, are you going to be forgiven and found in the light?
Or are you going to be covered in your sins and found in the darkness?
Our verse in Genesis chapter 1, verse 4 says And God saw the light, that it was good.
And God divided the light from the darkness.
One of the very first Hebrew words I learned is the word Tob.
Tob Our associate pastor told me, he said, Doug, you will never forget that word, toe.
He's been right so far.
Tobe I hope y'all don't forget it either.
And God saw the light that it was Tob.
That is Hebrew for our word good.
Job 34, 4.
Let us choose to us judgment.
Your choice.
Let us know among ourselves what is good.
What is total?
If you have not believed on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, the judgment or the verdict That will be rendered upon you will not be tau in your sight.
Your judgment will be rendered upon you to be divided.
From the light for eternity.
Just as God divided the light from the darkness, He will divide the saved from the lost.
The sheep from the goats.
Matthew 25, 31 through 34.
And I have y'all marked there if y'all want to turn to it.
When the Son of Man shall come in his glory and all the angels with him Then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory, and before him shall be gathered all nations And he shall separate them one from another.
As a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats.
And he shall set the sheep on the right hand, but the goats on the left hand.
He's divided.
Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand, Come ye bless of my Father.
Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
That kingdom does not use the light of the sun and moon, but only the glory of God and the sun to give it light.
Revelations 21, 23.
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God did lighten it.
And the Lamb is the light thereof.
If you haven't sought God to show you his saving grace yet, dear friend, I encourage you to do so now while you still have time before you enter. into the darkness.
If you go into the darkness without the light, you will stumble.
Jeremiah 13, 15 and 16.
Hear ye and give ear.
Be not proud.
For the Lord has spoken.
Give glory to the Lord your God before he calls darkness.
And before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and while ye look for light He turned it into the shadow of death and make it gross darkness.
Complete.
God saw that the light was good, so he divided it from the darkness.
God knows who are the righteous and who are the unrighteous.
God is going to divide the righteous from the unrighteous.
There is a home for the righteous where the Lamb of God shines day and night.
And there is a home for the wicked, for the unrighteous.
Or torment will be forever and ever.
Isaiah 50 10 says Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness and hath no light?
Let him trust in the name of the Lord and stay upon his God.
The word stay there means to rely or rest in.
A lot of us rely On a cane.
We trust in that cane not to break.
A lot of us rely on wheelchairs.
We trust in that wheelchair not to collapse.
We can put our trust in those things.
You need to put your trust in the Lord.
Rely on the Lord.
1 John 5 through 7 as we close, folks, and I've got y'all marked there if you want to turn to that.
Amen.
1 John 1, 5.
This then is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you that God is light.
And in him is no darkness at all.
God is not going to make an exception for you if you are in the darkness to allow you to come into his heaven.
If you are walking in the dark, folks, you will be put away with a dark goes.
If you're walking in the light, you're going to be with the people of the light.
You're going to be with God.
Put your trust in that.
If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another.
And the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Amen.
He that believeth on him is not condemned, folks.
I say that a lot.
You know why?
Because it's true.
He that believeth on him is not condemned.
He has the light of the Holy Spirit shining within him.
He that believeth not is condemned already.
He does not have that light of the Lord.
He does not have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you.
He that believeth not is condemned already.
Because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
God put that in his word, folks, for us to learn.
You want to be saved?
Faith in Christ.
You want to go to heaven?
Faith in Christ.
You want the light to shine within you, folks.
Faith in Christ.
There is no other name under heaven.
Among which we must be saved.
It's Jesus Christ, folks.
If you're not saved, please think about that.
Think about it.
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
His righteousness is through Jesus Christ For God so loved you that he gave his only begotten Son.
That whosoever believeth on him is not condemned, folks.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for this wonderful, wonderful lesson that you blessed us with here today, Father.
And I pray, Lord, that the loss will come to you, Father.
And that the same for edified here today, Lord.
I pray, Lord, that the lost will think, Lord, they will think about You think about Jesus, Father.
Just draw them to the cross, Lord.
I pray, Lord, that you'll show them the light of Jesus, Father.
We pray, Lord, that you'll send your spirit.
Teach them.
Show them, Jesus, Lord.
Lord, we know by your grace we're saved through faith.
And Lord, I pray for those that have no faith that you will bless them with faith, Lord.
We thank you so much, Lord, for everything that you do, Father.
We thank you for with your loving kindness, your mercy, Father.
We thank you, Lord, for loving us, Lord, while we were yet in our sin, Lord.
Thank you, Father, for all that you do, Lord, for all you do is good.
And Lord, we thank you for creating the light, Lord.
We thank you for the goodness of the life, Lord Lord, we want to pray for each and every person that's come here today, Lord, to hear your word, Father.
We want to pray for the caregivers that are here, Lord.
Pray, Lord, that they'll take care of these people the way you want them to be taken care of, Lord.
Lord, we just thank you so much, Lord.
Thank you for Jesus.
Thank you for your Holy Spirit.
And thank you for your word.
Thank you for those who come, Lord, to help us here, Lord.
And we thank you so much and love you, Lord.
In Jesus' name we pray here today, Amen
