Okay, well, I always told y'all, if one person shows up or if we fill the room, we still gonna have church. As long as somebody's gonna show up, we're gonna have it. So We're a little light today, but that's okay. Exactly the amount of people here that God wants to be here. So we'll just people come to hear God's word. We're gonna share God's word with them. So hello out there everybody in the video link. Good afternoon to y'all too. Good to see you. Thank y'all for coming. We are in the book of Genesis, okay? So we've been studying God's word verse by verse. And we will be starting in verse 3 today. But to help us stay in context, let's back up and start reading in verse 1. And we will read through verse 3 and then we will start our new study, okay? And like I said, I'm still working on this cough drop, so just bear with me. In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. In verse 3, and God said, Let there be light, and there was light. Heavenly Father, thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person that's come here today, Lord, to hear your word, Father. We pray, Lord, that the saints are edified here today, Father, and that the lost are pointed to you, Lord. Just let your spirit teach us today, Lord. And let all eyes and ears be on your word here today, Father. We pray, Lord, that you'll help us remove the distractions, Father. And just let us have a wonderful evening of fellowship here, Lord. Giving your word, Father, just teach us here today, Father. We thank you and love you. And in Jesus' name we pray, amen. Okay. Now in verse 1, something we do not want to overlook. Who does our verse say created the heaven and the earth? That's right. He created this earth that we currently live on that is getting more and more filled with sin each and every day. God did not unleash the sin that is filling this world. Mankind did. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, they And they alone decided it would be best to go against what God had told them and believe Satan Instead of believing God, thus disobeying their loving Father, who had given them only one rule. Now skipping forward a bit in Genesis, we read in Genesis Chapter 2 verses 15 through 17. And the Lord God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded Commanded the man saying of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. But of the tree of the Knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die. One rule. One rule. Adam and Eve went on to do just the opposite of what God had said. God told them not to eat of it. What did they do? They one rule they could not follow. One rule. Thus, bringing sin into a sinless world at that time. And passing down that sin. To each and every generation after them. That sin has grown and grown into the mess we have now in this world in which we live in, folks. One thing That we can see in verse 1 of Genesis is that God created this heaven and this earth, which tells us that God is created. He did not only create this heaven and this earth, but I believe at just the right time and at just the right moment, when our God is ready, He is going to create a new heaven. heaven and a new earth where there will be no sin. Isaiah 65, 17 says, For behold I create new heaven. And a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Our God created our heaven and our earth, and when he gets ready. to create a new heaven and a new earth, one free of sin, in order for you to live on that new earth and experience that new heaven You must be forgiven of that sinful nature that you have inherited from Adam and Eve Psalms 5110. This is one of my mom's favorite verses. Excuse me. Create in me a clean heart. There's our word create. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Only the great creator, the one who made the heaven and the earth, can create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you. Only our God can do that, folks. Adam and Eve sinned against God and passed that sin nature down to you. God is the one to whom you must seek forgiveness, Christ. The one who created you is the one to whom you seek. Because he is the one we have sinned against. Now verse 2 in Genesis says, and the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Speaking of waters, it is raining pretty good right now. Psalms 104. 30 says, thou sendest forth thy spirit. They are created. And thou renewest the face of the earth. Now verse 3 in Genesis starts out with, and God said, One of the things this tells us right here is that God speaks. God speaks. The word said used here comes from the Hebrew word al-mar and it means to say As we look back at our verse here in Genesis chapter 1, verse 3, what did God say? And God said, let there be light. Then what happened according to our verse? And there was light. And there was light God is in control, folks. All this mess we see going on in this whole world right here, right now, folks. God is in control. God is all powerful, and he alone deserves our praise. Psalms 148, 1 through 5 says. Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens. Praise him in the heights Praise ye him, all his angels. Praise ye him, all his hosts. Praise ye him, sun and moon. Praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded. And they were created. God's voice is powerful, folks. When he speaks, things happen. I want you to hear the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Lazarus was the brother of Mary and Martha. And Jesus loved them for they had believed the truth that a Savior would die for them. While Jesus was out traveling around spreading the gospel, Lazarus had died. And Jesus came back to raise Lazarus from the dead and glorify his Father in heaven. Now there are several lessons we can learn from this, but the one we are concentrating on now is the power of God speaking. Let's look at the book of John and start reading in chapter 11. And I've got you marked there, Miss Becky. John 11 Alright. John 11, and we're going to start in verse 32. Then when Mary was come where Jesus was and saw him. She fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit and was troubled. And said, where had ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, behold how he loved them. And some of them said, could not this man which opened the eyes of the blind have cause that even this man should not have died? Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said, this is Jesus speaking now. We're concentrating on the good Lord speaking. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, said unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh. For he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, said Aye not unto thee that if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God. Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. Jesus told them to move the stone. He said, move the stone. They moved the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always. But because of the people which stand by, I say. That they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus come forth And he that was dead came forth. That's a powerful voice right there, folks. If he says, come forth to a dead man, and the dead man comes forth. That's a powerful voice. And he that was dead came forth bound hand and foot with grave clothes. And his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, loose him and let him go. Lazarus was a dead man, folks. He was buried in a sepulcher or a cave with other dead people. Why do you think that Jesus just called forth Lazarus out of that tomb? Why didn't he call everyone else out of that tomb as well? I mean that would have been a greater sight to behold, would it not? Jesus called one man out of the tomb, and one man came out. Why didn't Jesus call all of them out of that tomb? That would have been even a more miracle, a more greater miracle. Here's my thinking on that. I think it was because Lazarus was the only one who believed in Christ as their Savior. He was the only one in that tomb who listened and believed in Christ while he was alive And therefore he was the only one who listened and believed that God would raise him from the dead once he died. Now God used the bringing of Lazarus out of that tomb for several different reasons. But what we wanted to show you is that when God speaks Things get done. And next week, God willing, we're going to discuss that light That God mentions back in our verse in Genesis chapter 1, verse 3. And before we close here today, after Lazarus came out of that tomb, Lazarus was in a dark tomb, wasn't he? Dark. They didn't have no light switch they could flip on in that tomb. When they rolled that stone over, simply dark, wasn't it? When Lazarus came out of that tomb and they removed the napkin from his face After Jesus had said, loose him and let him go. What do you think was the first thing that Lazarus saw? I think it was the light, folks. I think it was the light. God said, let there be light. And there was light wasn't there. We're gonna talk more about that light next week, God willing. Thank y'all for Come. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for this precious word. Thank you for this lesson that you blessed us with, Father. And I pray, Lord, that it pointed people to you, Father. Lord, there were many reasons why Jesus raised Lazarus out of that tomb, Father. And Lord, it was partially one of the reasons was to set in motion that Jesus would have to go to the cross after the the chief priests and all of those started putting together reasons to have Jesus put to death, Father. And Lord, we just pray, Lord, that people know Jesus as their Savior, Father. Lord, we just thank you so much for all that you do, Lord. And Lord, we thank you for those who come to hear your word, Father. Lord, we want to pray for those who couldn't make it here today because they're sick and can't get out of bed, Lord. Lord, we want to pray for those who just think they have something better to do than to come and hear your word, Father. We thank you for the rain that you're blessing us with, Lord, to help things grow and help our lakes get filled, Lord. We have water to drink, Lord. And we just thank you for all that you do, Lord. Lord, we thank you and we pray, Lord, that people will think more about that light, Lord. Jesus said that he was the light of the world, Father. Lord, we pray, Father, that we point them to the light of the world. We pray, Lord, that you just work through us to point people to Jesus, Father. We thank you, Lord. I want to pray for Brother Larry's not feeling well, Father, and pray for Brother Ray's not feeling well. Just uh thank for those who come to help here, Lord. We thank you and we love you and thank you for those who tune in to hear your word, Lord, and those that help support us, Lord. We thank you for them. Lord, we just pray your will be done here in this place, Father. And that Jesus goes forth, Father. Thank you and love you. And thank you for your word, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
