All right. We are in the book of Genesis. For those of y'all who don't know, we might brother Douglas Lee and see y'all. I see everybody. For those of y'all that do know me, my name's Phil Doug. So, anyway. We are in the book of Genesis in the very first chapter. And today we'll be starting in verse 9 of Genesis. As y'all, some of y'all may know or may not know. I'll go verse by verse. We get into the chapter. And we go verse by verse until we get through that chapter. Today we're going to be starting with verse 9. Verse 9 in Genesis says, And God said, Let the waters Under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear. And it was so. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your precious word, Father. Lord, we thank you for each and every precious soul that has come here today, Lord, to hear your word, Father. I pray that each and every person, Lord. We'll hear your word and that you'll just teach through me, Lord, that your spirit teach here today, Father, and that we learn, Father. Help us, Lord, to learn, Lord. If we want to learn, Lord, we just pray that the saints are edified here today and that the lost are pointed to Jesus Christ. Father, your dear beloved Son who died for our sins. Lord, open up our minds now to your word, Father. Thank you, Lord, so much. We love you. In Jesus' name, Lord, we pray amen. Amen. Okay, so in the previous verses. Remember, we've gone from verse 1 all the way to verse 8, and we're going to start in verse 9 now, which I just read. In the previous verses, we have learned that God is so powerful. That all he has to do is speak, and things get done. In this verse, we can see that nothing has changed. God said And it got done. We know this by simply looking at where we are right now. and not seeing water under our feet. There's no water where we're sitting right here. And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together under one place, and let the dry land appear. And it was so. We are on dry land. Now, folks. Our feet are not wet because we are on dry ground. Psalms 95, 5, and 6. The sea is his, and he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Oh, come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Folks, when we come and worship, And bow down and kneel before the Lord our Maker. What is that? That is reverencing our Lord. That is showing respect to our Lord. The reason you have a dry place to sit or stand or walk or live is because of our Lord, folks. And too many people take that for granted. They do not revere the Lord as the Creator of heaven and earth, but they take the life our Lord has blessed them with for granted. And they simply waste their time, not realizing their time here in this present world is running out Earlier a while ago, I was talking to this lady over here, and she was talking about how she had surgery to get her eyes filled. She can now see she hasn't seen in many years. And I told her we were talking about how people take things for granted. God blesses us with things that we take for granted. Don't take your life for granted, folks. Don't take your life for granted. Don't take your health for granted. They do not revere the Lord as the Creator of heaven and earth, but they take the life that our Lord has blessed them with for granted. And they simply waste their time, not realizing their time here in this present world is running out. They are without understanding, and only by seeking the truth can they obtain the understanding that they need. Jeremiah 5, 21-23 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding, which have eyes And not and see not, which have ears and hear not. Fear ye not. Question mark. Fear ye not. People who do not reverence God do not fear God. He says, Fear ye not me, saith the Lord. Will ye not tremble at my presence? Which had placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree. God said it, it happened. That it cannot pass, and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail, though they roar, yet can they not pass over it. God placed the water there and he said, stay. Stay. He put it there for a purpose. God does not allow it. Can you think? Would you think, folks, if God allowed that, we wouldn't be standing on dry land right now, would we? God is the reason that is held back. But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart. They are revolted and gone. The word gone used here comes from a word that means walk. Walk. These people choose to rebel against our Creator and walk away from his truth. They are blessed to have dry land on which to live at this current moment. But when the time comes, all those who have not trusted in the death of Christ for their sins will be exchanging the dry land for a land of fire. 2 Peter 3. 1 through 14. Now some of you may be wondering why we do so many verses. Some of y'all may be wondering why we cover so many verses. Not only does God want you to know His Word, but some people do not open their Bibles. Some people can't open their Bible. Some people do not know the words of God. This is the only Bible they get all week, folks. That is one of the reasons why I like to cover so many verses. 2 Peter 3:1, and I've got y'all marked there. This second epistle below. I now write unto you, in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance. People who do not reverence God do not have a pure mind, folks. That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets. That is another reason why I like covering so many verses. It helps us to remember. Lord knows I need all the help to remember that I can get. And going over and over God's Word helps me to remember. And of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers. Walking after their own lusts and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. Now when the earth, the dry land, was on cover, when God separated the waters from the dry land, did the dry land. Where is the promise of his coming? As sure as you and I are here today, folks, Christ will return. For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7. Scoffers have no faith. Therefore, they do not believe and they will do their best to try and convince you to join them in the lake of fire. If you fall for their lives and refuse to believe God, that is exactly where you will go. 2 Peter 3:5. For this they are, for this they willingly Are ignorant of, willingly are ignorant of. They have ears, but they do not hear. They have eyes, but they do not see. They choose to ignore the gospel of Christ. For this they are willingly ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old. And the earth standing out of the water and in the water, whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished. God created the heaven and the earth in the beginning. God moved the seas so the earth could come up. We're eventually going to get, God willing, to when God made man, God saw that man within his heart was evil all the time. God flooded the world again. Flooded. No dry ground. None. Do y'all remember for how long? Forty days. Forty nights. God took it all away. What they took for granted, that dry land, God took it away. Mankind perished, all but those that were in the ark. That is, they the Lord locked in that ark and they couldn't come out. Your faith in Christ, folks, not going to come out. God seals you in Christ, just like He sealed Him in the ark. And they survived. Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished. They took what they had for granted. But the heavens and the earth, which are now by the same word, are kept in store, reserved. Unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. People take what they have for granted. Ungodly men have a chance right now to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. They continue to take that time for granted. They're going to lose that time. The day of judgment is going to sneak up on you like a thief in the night. 2 Peter 3:8, but beloved those that know Christ. Be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years is one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise. As some men count slackness, but is long suffering to usward, not willing that any should perish. But that all should come to repentance. Amen. Dear friend, if you don't know Christ as your Savior, you have a chance to know Him as your Savior. If you don't know him as your Savior, stop taking your time for granted because it can get pulled away from you just like that God has blessed each and every one of us to know the forgiveness of a loving Father and has allotted you the time to do so because He does not want you to perish. He wants you to live. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. In the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat. And if you don't know what the word fervent means, it means intense. The earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved or destroyed What manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God? wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat. Nevertheless, we according to his promise look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. Now folks, I'm going to tell you, without faith. How do you believe in his promises? You can't. Without faith, it is impossible to believe in the promises of God. Fight comes by hearing and hearing more. And here. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. How do you do this? Faith in Christ. Faith in Christ. Philippians 3:9. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness. The Bible says that all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags. Not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law. But that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. As we get ready to close, folks, back in Genesis chapter 1, verse 9, which says, And God said, Let the waters under the heaven Be gathered together unto one place and let the dry land appear and it will stow. So remember last week Now, I'm gonna tell you, I'm not the best whiteboard guy, but I'm going to be faithful to the Lord and I'm going to keep trying. Because this is what I believe He wants me to do. He laid this on my heart to get a whiteboard and to do this. I believe that. We can learn if we see. I do. I like to see stuff. Now, I'm not the best drawer in the world, but as long as you get the picture. I believe that we're doing what I'm supposed to be doing. So, what we got here, remember last week, we're going to rebrain first. That works right quick. Got me new directions here. Last week. Verse 6 and 7 and 8. We'll go ahead and read those. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters. Anybody remember what a firmament is? The land. Snow is the sky. It's an arch. It's an arch. You know, when I read that, I thought firmament was land, too, because firmament has the word firm in it, and I thought firm. land but when I looked it up it is an arch means arches I wish I'd have brought that definition with me it's on my phone which is being recording right now The Hebrew definition, a firmament, means an arch. It's something else also. An arch. Do y'all remember McDonald's' home of the golden white? Arches. Right. The thing begins with him, it gives us the idea of an arch. And I use the example of when I First, looked this up, I thought of my foot. I thought of it as an arch. It's an indention. An indention. So what? When God first made it, it was all water, right? You see, look here. You see, light, light, and even morning was the first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. So, this is all water. I thought about making a big circle and trying to do it that way, but now I've got to try to draw a circle. So, but anyway, we're going to just play like this is all what? Now, God has divided. He's put an arch in here. So, we've got rid of that. Now, this is our arch. Okay? Now, remember, the earth is round. So this arch will go all the way around. And above here we got the heavens. And then above that we got more heavens. And then we've got the heaven above that where the good Lord resides. Well, she's everywhere. But his only right now is above us. He has to be far away from this old sinful earth, fellas. Far away, and I don't blame him for being. He gets shot as water people in the water. Okay, so we got that. This is our firmament. It's dividing our water from our waters. And God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament. Which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. So we got our firmament here, waters, waters. It's divided. The land isn't here yet. The land hasn't been made. We're still in verse 7. Verse 8 says, And God called the firmament heaven. So this top of the arch, this is heaven. But we have another heaven and another heaven. And we had a discussion about why mine says heaven and some people say heavens. So we got into, we discussed that several lessons ago. Now, and God called the firmament heaven, and the evening, and the morning were the second day. Now, verse 9. And God said, let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place. And let the dry land appear, and it was so. So the water can gather together into one place. So we got all the water here gathered into one place, and then we got dry land coming up. Dry land. All the water gathered to one place, and we got some dry land. And this is where all of us are living. So far, so far. Now we got to go a little further into this. And we will, God will, and get a little further into it. But for now, we just want to see what's going on. We want to keep up with the verse as best we can. Now, When that dry land, God said, and let the dry land appear, and it was so. When that dry land appeared, How many of you know that God saw that? How many of you know God saw that dry land? Well, He said, Let the dry land occur. Remember, God's spirit's moving across. Here, like a bird fluttering out, you know. That's what the word ones is moving. He said, like a bird fluttering a nest, God's spirit is going above that. I believe God did see. I believe he did. I also believe 2 Corinthians 5:10, which says. For we must all appear. Remember, this has appeared, right? The land has now appeared out of the water. The water has moved, lands appeared. I believe God saw this land appeared, and I believe 2 Corinthians 5:10, for we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. That everyone may receive the things done in his body according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. When you appear before the judgment seat of Christ. Just like that dry land appeared from the water, what are you going to receive? Psalms 101. 4 says, A froured heart shall depart from me. I will not know a wicked person. Luke 13, 27 to 28, but he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are. Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves thrust out. What are we going to deceive when you appear before the judgment seat of Christ? Or, when you appear before the judgment seat of Christ, will you hear Luke 23, 43? Luke 23, 43. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise. This is what Jesus said to the thief dying on the cross next to our Savior, who was dying as well for your sins. There were two thieves that day who were being crucified along beside our Savior. One believed in Christ and appeared with Christ in paradise. The other did not believe and was therefore thrust out. of paradise. Which thief are you? Oh, Brother Doug, I'm not a thief. Have you ever stole anything here? If you've ever stolen anything, you're a thief. How about all the times you denied God the glory? God has blessed you with something and you took the glory instead of giving it to God. We could go on and on and on, folks. Each and every one of us are thieves. We all are. Now, the question is. Which thief are you? Are you the one that accepts Christ? Now I want you to notice something here. When that thief believed in Jesus Christ, Did he come off that cross and go get baptized? No. Did he come off that cross and go walk in the aisle somewhere in a church? Did he come off that cross and go have a pastor put his hand on him and pray for him and pray him in the heavens? No, he did not. What did he do? He believed in Christ. He believed that Christ was the Savior for man. Jesus told me that you would be with me in paradise. I'm going to tell you there was some other way. Don't you think that Jesus Christ would have told me? Don't you think our Savior would have said, Oh, well, no, you've got to have works. You've got to get back off our cross and go work for it. Don't you think Jesus would have so told him? Jesus was God's dear Son. If there was some other way, don't you think God would have saved his son and wouldn't have let him go through all that torture? Yeah. There's no other way. For by grace are you saved through forever. That not of yourselves. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father how but by me. It's all you need. Faith in Christ, folks. Faith in Christ. At my job Friday, there was a man leaning on a part we do some work where I do. And he was leaning on this part and sweating all over it. And I told him, I went over and I moved his arm off of that part. I said, man, you can't be leaning on that part because when you do, your sweat's going to put rust all over it. And then when we send it off to where it's got to go, the customer's going to send it back to us. Because it's going to have rust all over it. He looked at me right square in my eyes and he laid right back on that part. I told him. He wouldn't listen. I'm telling you, Jesus is the only way for salvation, folks. You want to be saved? You want to know you're going to heaven when you die, when you leave this fleshly body behind? You want to know where you're going? Faith in Christ. I'm telling you the truth. I'm telling you the truth. Are you the believing thief looking forward to life after death with our Lord? Or are you the thief who refused to believe and will be cast out of paradise after death? We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. Please think about that, folks. Please think about that. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person that's come to hear your word, Father. I pray, Lord, if there's one here that doesn't know Jesus Christ as their Savior, Father, and they're putting their faith And anything other than to shed blood of Christ on the cross for their sins, Father, we pray, Lord, that you'll show them. Show them, Lord, drawn to the Christ, drawn to the cross, and show them Christ, Father. Show them that Christ is the way to heaven, Lord. Show them that Christ is the forgiveness that they need. I pray, Lord, that they will turn to you, Lord, and seek your face, Lord. Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your precious word. Father, thank you for showing us, Lord. Thank you for your long suffering to us, Lord. I can't tell you how thankful I am, Lord, for your long suffering with me, Lord. Thank you for opening my eyes to Jesus, Father, and I pray that you'll just teach others through me, Lord. We thank you and we love you so much, Father. Thank you for Jesus, Lord. Thank you for your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your word, Father. We want to pray for the caregivers that are here, Lord, that you'll just help each and every one of them, Lord, to take care of the people here, Lord. The way you want them to be taken care of. We want to pray for those who are bed-ridden, Lord, and can't get out of bed, Lord, to come and hear your word. Father, we pray that you'll just be with them, Lord. Let them know they're not alone, Father, and that you're with them, Lord. Let each and every person here know that you're with them, Lord, and that you're watching over us and keeping us all safe, Father. We thank you, Lord. We pray for those who come and help us here, Lord. Share your word, Lord. We thank you for their help, Lord. Thank you, Lord, for all that you do for us, Lord. All you do is good, Lord. We thank you and love you, Lord. In Jesus' name, we want to pray, Lord. Amen.
