Good afternoon everyone. Good afternoon. Last week we stopped at verse 28 in chapter 1 in the book of Genesis. Where we have been going verse by verse through the book of Genesis, studying and learning God's precious word. And God willing, we will continue our study here today. To help us stay in context with what we have been studying. I will start our reading today in verse 26 of chapter 1 of the book of Genesis and read all the way to verse 30. And we will go back to verse 29 and start our study for today. This is Chapter 48 Gospel. Genesis 1, 26 through 30. And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness. and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth. and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image. In the image of God created he him. Male and female created he them. And God blessed them. I love them. And God blessed them. And God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it. And had dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold. I have given you every herb-bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree-yielding seed to you. It shall be for me, and to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth wherein there is life. I have given every green herb for meat, and it was so. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your wonderful word, Lord. We thank you for each and every person that's come here today, Lord, to hear your word, Father. And I pray, Lord, that you would use this lesson that you blessed us with, Lord, to teach your word here today, Father. I pray, Lord, that each and every person here today will have ears to hear, Lord, and that you will just fill them with your knowledge, Lord, and your understanding. Just let your Holy Spirit teach us here today. We thank you and we love you so much, Father. In Jesus' name, Lord, we pray, Amen. Amen. Now what I would like to draw your attention to right from the beginning here is the word meat. M-E-A-T-E. We see this word used for the very first time here in verse 29 and 30 of Genesis. The word meat is translated from the Hebrew word oxlog, oxlog, and it means food. Food. Air used in this text is the means food. In today's vernacular, when we think of the word meat, if you're like me, you think of cow. or chicken or fish. We may think of cow, chicken, or fish or deer or some other type of meat. But used here in our verses, the word meat means food. Just food. Now, as we look a little closer here at the word meat or at the translation of it, which is food. What do you notice is missing from what God is telling the man and woman and the beast of the earth and the fowl of the air and everything that creepeth upon the earth that is to be food for them? What is missing? Each other. God is not telling them to eat each other. The beast of the earth was not supposed to be ripping mankind into shreds and eating him. or vice versa. And the fowl of the air was not supposed to be feasting on any leftovers, as well as the creeping thing, and mankind was not supposed to be eating on any of them. In the beginning mankind was supposed to be eating herbs and fruit, and even the beasts and fowls and creeping things had a diet of green herbs. We were not meant to kill one another in order to stay alive. But we were to eat those things that God provided that replanted themselves. And continuously supplied all of his creation with sustenance. The verse that comes to mind while I was thinking of this. But my God will supply all your need according to his riches and glory. That was one of the first things. God had supplied mankind and the beast and the fowl and the creeping things. With everything they needed right from the beginning, it was all theirs. Everything they needed, God supply. Can you imagine? Not being afraid of a bear or a wolf or any other creature and them not being afraid of you. Man, you just imagine that. In the beginning I believe that God created all things to get along and not to be afraid of each other because there was no need to be afraid. No need to fight over territory or lack of food because God had blessed all of his creation with harmony and feast And there is coming a day when all those who believe God will be blessed with knowing this peace once again. Isaiah 32, 17 and 18, and the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness. quietness and assurance forever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places. Man, that'd be nice. In the beginning, God blessed his creation with food, and we should all be thankful that he still blesses us. with food. 1 Timothy 6, 8 says, and having food and raiment, let us be there with content. So we see here in verses 29 and 30 in Genesis chapter 1 that what God created, He made a way for His creation to live. And if you think about it, he is still making a way today. God's plan from the beginning of creation has not changed. And he will accomplish everything his word says. In the book of Matthew, chapter 24, verse 35. And in the book of Mark, chapter 13, verse 31. And in the book of Luke, chapter 21, verse 33, they all say the same thing. Thank word for word. Must be very important, huh? Matthew 24:35. Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. God has provided from the very beginning of time as we know it. He has blessed us with life Food and raiment, but someday our lives here, along with our food and our raiment, will all be gone. But the words of the Lord will remain, and I sure hope. That you have fed on his words because in those words are found life Found life. After Jesus had fed many, many people at one time with five barley loaves and two small fishes. The people started following him around everywhere he went. Not because they believed on him as their Savior, but because they were physically fed and physically healed by him. They were not concerned about their spiritual starvation or their spiritual healing. They just wanted their bellies full and watched. What they thought was an entertaining show of physical healing. If you would like to read about this, you can read it in the book of John in chapter 6. And I would hope that you would go there, John chapter 6. And there are many verses there that talks of Christ being the spiritual food. That you need, and I hope you will read that chapter in the book of John, but for our time's sake today. We will discuss the verses that occurred after all these people shunned Jesus of being the food of life. They simply just turned their backs on him and they walked away from him. But twelve people stayed. And one of those people was Simon Peter. And I want to tell you that even though Simon Peter said some things in the haste sometimes. Before he thought about what he was saying, as we all have done, and how? We all have done it. He said some things before he thought about what he was saying. At least I can say that I have said that I have done and said things before which I wish I wouldn't have said. Sometimes my mouth, well, I run my brain, and I say things that I wish I had never said, but what Peter says here to the Lord is just wonderful. As we read in the book of John chapter 6, verses 63 through 69. Now, this is Jesus speaking here first. When we will get Peter's reply. Now remember, all these people, thousands of people, will follow Jesus around because he was fed. With the five barley loaves and the two fishes, he fed all his people. And he did miraculous things for them. And they saw all this. But they were just following him around to get the next meal. They wouldn't call him for spiritual evil. Jesus said, John 6:63 It is the Spirit that quickeneth or makes life. The flesh profited nothing. The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life. That's God's word of faith. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not and who should betray him. You know, folks, there's a lot of people that go to church. They think they fooled people. And they might be. They might fool me. They might fool you. But they're not fooling Jesus. They're not fooling God. God looks on the inside of each of those things. He knows who saved and who is saved. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me except it were given unto him of my Father. Folks, God draweth you to the cross. Jesus also said, No man can come unto me unless the Father goes. And I want to tell you today, folks, if you don't know Jesus as your Savior, and you feel that little tug on your heart, folks, to come to Christ. Don't keep ignoring that. That little tug is going to get weaker, weaker, weaker. Keep ignoring. One day that little coachman stops. You feel that little draw and you fold straight. Come to Christ, look to the cross and be saved. Do it what he's doing. John 6:66. From that time. Many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him. Disciples mean the few. We are peoples. If you're studying the Bible, if you're trying to learn Jesus, you're a people, you're a disciples. All those people that were following him around for their next meal, they turned around and went back. From that time in, his disciples went back and walked no more with him. We don't need that. Thank you, God, but we don't need it. We're fine just like we are. They turned their back on God. Just turn back, walk away. Then Jesus said unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Will ye also go away? Will you turn your back on Jesus Christ here today? Then Simon Peter answered him, Oh, I love Simon Peter, for this man if I just died. When I read the things that Simon Peter did, I can just see me doing some of the same stuff. And that's with all the apostles, folks. If you read about what the apostles do, what they did, and what their background was and stuff, that represents each metal once if you look at it. A lot of their traits are some of the same faith you and I are. Simon Peter, he said, then Simon Peter answered him. Remember Jesus asking, Will ye also go away? Simon Peter answered him and said, Lord, to whom shall we go? Whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. Right here. The words of eternal life. God's word is meat to eat, folks. Some Peter answered and said, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus Christ was the Son of the living God. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. Jesus Christ is his only begotten son. Amen. God's precious Amen. And wonderful words to us are a blessing, folks. And this is the way to the truth of everlasting life after your spirit leaves this old fleshly body. Faith in the Son of the Living God. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way. The truth and what? The life. And the life. No man cometh unto the Father how? But by me. That's exactly right. No other way. No other way. But by me, folks, I'm going to tell you, if there was any other way, don't you think the Son of God would tell you? There's no other way. For by grace are you saved through faith. And that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. And finally, as we start to close verse 31 in chapter 1 of Genesis, it says Genesis 1. 31, And God saw everything that He had made. And behold, it was very good. Very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Not just good, folks. Very good. Everything God had created in the beginning was very good. All the creeping things. All the fowls of the air, all the beasts, even mankind, folks. You and I are created for the image of God. Very good. Very good. Everything God had created in the beginning was very good. No corruption whatsoever. God did not make any mistakes. Everything was very good, including mankind. Now it's so hard for me to not jump ahead. I really want to, but I'm going to say that and come back to this later on, because I will jump ahead in Genesis. But I'm just going to hold off on that. You're just going to just hold on to it. Can you just imagine that everything Everything was very good. Everything. Maybe we can't imagine that right now because of the world we live in and we were raised in. We have all experienced bad times, the loss of loved ones, or things that were precious to us. We have all experienced pain and suffering and misery and stress and all kinds of different health issues. But in the beginning, none of these things or any other thing that caused badness was present. Nothing. Good health all the time. Not a cough, not a cold, no sin, folks. It was all created very good by our Creator, and that was the way God meant for it to be. But when mankind sinned in the Garden of Eden, All these bad things came into the world and corrupted the very goodness that was meant for creation. Galatians 5:9 A little leaven, leaven. That little sin, that little rebellion of Adam and Eve, called a little levity, and it left all alone. Romans 5, 12, wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. As we go farther into the book of Genesis, God willing, we're going to learn about how the first man and woman brought sin into the world, thus corrupting it. When you hear people say, oh, how can a loving God allow this or that to happen? Just remember that it's not God's fault, folks. God created a world that was very good from the beginning. It is mankind that messed it up due to sin. Sin corrupted this world, not God. And as we read the last of our verse here in Genesis chapter 1, verse 31, we read, And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. We have made it through six days of God creating the world and of the inhabitants, and God willing, we will learn what took place on day seven. That's weird. Thank you all so much for the encouragement that you bring when you come to hear God's word. It's such a blessing for me to see each and every one of you. I'm going to miss you, brother. You're going to well, we're happy for it. Oh, that was only a few days. Where'd they go? This closing prayer. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for each and every person. Just come, Lord, to hear your word, Father. We pray, Lord, that the saints were edified here today, Lord, and that the lost were pointed to Jesus Christ, Father. Lord, we thank you so much, Lord, for the encouragement each and every person brings with them, Lord. We thank you for their attention to this, Lord, and they're wanting to learn your word. I pray that you call them here today, Father, and that they leave here today, knowing more about your word, Lord, than when they came in, Father. Learn a little bit at a time, Lord. A little here and a little there, Father. We thank you so much, Lord, for your precious word, Father, that you bless us. With the Lord. Thank you for this lesson that you blessed us with, Lord. Father, we want to pray for the caregivers that are here, Lord, and just pray, Lord. They will take care of these people, Lord, the way you want them to be taken care of. That they will show these people love and grace, Lord, the way you show them that grace. Lord, it's just such a blessing to come together, Lord. Have fellowship here today, Lord. We thank you for Brother Ray, lead singing, and we want to pray for Brother Larry and his family, Lord, and their health issues, Father. We just pray that you just bestow a blessing upon each and every person that's here today, God. Be with us, Lord, as we go on our separate ways, Lord. Stay with us, Father. Keep us all saved, Lord. Let's praise you. Saved us. Turn back to you, Lord. Next day we come together, Lord, in fellowship. We thank you and we love you, Lord. Thank you so much for your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your word and this Lord. Thank you for Jesus Christ, Lord. And in His name, Lord, we pray, Father, amen.
